Dengima develops a highly flexible sophisticated hierarchical classification schema for biological entities. Classifications is not just restricted to genes, just like the Lifespan Factors, it can also be for metabolites, small molecules, environmental influences, processes, etc. So its more general, used to complement classic gene ontology.

Objects can be constructed by combining them with each other (e.g. mitochondria is part of the cytoplasm and an organelle membrane is part of the organelle). The part of entry can be inherited (e.g. cytoplasm is part of the cell, therefore mitochondria are also part of the cell).

Proper and systematic annotation of biological entities is very important. Denigma's annotation provides the capability to annotate all kind of arbitrary data. Denigma annotation starts from small molecules over tissues to all the organisms. This is also the home of Denigma's species.
