Description:

The Harrison Laboratory has two main focuses:

    1. Gerontology: Mechanisms of Aging The Research in gerontology focuses on developing and testing hypotheses about the causes of Aging in mice. The long-term goal is for our Research to lead to an extended period of healthy life - healthspan - as we age. The laboratory tested rapamycin treatment in mice and found that even if treatment is initiated late in life, it extended the lifespan

    2. Hematology: Stem Cells The Research on hematology focuses on molecular genetic mechanisms that regulate differentiation, self-renewal, and Aging in stem cells. The long-term goal is for our Research to lead to safer and more effective treatments for human diseases as we age, thus extending our healthspan
