Description:

Understanding the biology of longevity and aging using nematode model.

A focus of current work in this laboratory is understanding the genes and biochemical processes by which reduced insulin/IGF-1 signaling and dietary restriction increase lifespan. Other interests include sex differences in the biology of aging, the role of microbiome in aging, evolutionary conservation of mechanisms of ageing, the mechanism of organism death, and bioethical implications of aging research. The work is largely funded by the European and the Wellcome Trust.

The laboratory is located at the Institute of Healthy Ageing at the University College London.
