Mutation of gar-3 extends lifespan on NGM agar covered with killed or live bacteria as well as in liquid culture medium. gar-3(VC670) mutation extends mean, 75%ile, and maximum lifespan by 5-18, 4-7 and 15-56%. Lifespan extension by gar-3 mutation is not abolished by RNAi inactivation of daf-16, skn-1, or eat-2 [22768380].
