RAD9

Symbol: RAD9
Name: RADiation sensitive 9
Entrez gene ID: 851803
Ensembl gene ID: YDR217C
Species: Yeast (Taxid: 4932)

Functional description:
Rad9p; DNA damage-dependent checkpoint protein, required for cell-cycle arrest in G1/S, intra-S, and G2/M; transmits checkpoint signal by activating Rad53p and Chk1p; hyperphosphorylated by Mec1p and Tel1p; potential Cdc28p substrate [Source:SGD;Acc:S000002625] [Ensembl]

Observation:

Deletion results in mutants with a 2-fold decrease in mean and maximum chronological lifespan under conditions of nutrient depletion [17710147]. Mutation of RAD9 shortens lifespan by 30% in DBY747 [7806576] and in strain W303 [11290710].

RAD9 mutation has no effect on telomeric silencing or length [10924458].
