Sh

Symbol: Sh
Name: Shaker
Entrez gene ID: 32780
Ensembl gene ID: FBgn0003380
Species: Fly (Taxid: 7227)

Functional description:
Voltage-dependent potassium channel involved in regulation of sleep need or efficiency. Mediates the voltage- dependent potassium ion permeability of excitable membranes. Assuming opened or closed conformations in response to the voltage difference across the membrane, the protein forms a potassium- selective channel through which potassium ions may pass in accordance with their electrochemical gradient. [UniProt]

Observation:

Genetic mutation in Sh decreases lifespan by accelerating the aging process. At 25 degree mean and maximum lifespan is reduced by 16 and 22%, while by 18 degree Celsius the reduction is 32 and 21% [8582611].

Interventions:
  • Sh mutation -16 to -32% -21 to -22%

  • Assays: Organismal Lifespan
    Mean: -16 to -32
    Maximum: -21 to -22

    Classification:
  • Aging-Suppressor
  • Negative Aging-Suppressor
