Arntl

Symbol: Arntl
Name: aryl hydrocarbon receptor nuclear translocator-like
Entrez gene ID: 11865
Ensembl gene ID: ENSMUSG00000055116
Species: Mouse (Taxid: 10090)

Functional description:
Appears to be involved in circadian rhythyms; ARNTL-CLOCK heterodimers activate E-box element (3'- CACGTG-5') transcription of a number of proteins of the circadian clock. This transcription is inhibited in a feedback loop by PER, and also by CRY proteins (By similarity). [UniProt]

Observation:

Arntl knockout mice display symptoms of premature aging including a shorter lifespan, sarcopenia, cataracts, less subcutaneous fat, and organ shrinkage [16847346].
