chk-1

Symbol: chk-1
Name: CHeckpoint Kinase 1
Entrez gene ID: 3565921
Ensembl gene ID: Y39H10A.7
Species: Worm (Taxid: 6239)

Functional description:
chk-1 encodes a CHK1-like serine threonin protein kinase that affects fertility; Serine/threonine-protein kinase which is required for checkpoint-mediated cell cycle arrest and activation of DNA repair in response to the presence of DNA damage or unreplicated DNA. May also negatively regulate cell cycle progression during unperturbed cell cycles. Required for checkpoint mediated cell cycle arrest in response to DNA damage in germline cells. Essential for embryogenesis. [UniProt]

Observation:

RNA interference of chk-1 increases lifespan by 15 to 25% [16741121].
